Geneva Tourism & Conventions

Tourism is Geneva’s ally

For 125 years, the mission of Geneva Tourism & Conventions Office has been to promote Geneva in Switzerland and worldwide. Simultaneously, it strives to offer our guests the best welcome possible as well as interesting and attractive events.

Geneva Tourism & Conventions Office is a private association of public interest that was founded 125 years ago by representatives of Geneva’s economic and hospitality sector. It is financed by the tourist taxes paid by guests and tourism operators and its global aim is to implement a dynamic and innovative tourism policy to reinforce Geneva’s attractiveness as a leisure and business destination.
Tourism is vital for Geneva, particularly in economic terms, with global revenues (direct and indirect) of over 2.5 billion Swiss francs benefiting many different sectors of the economy, such as hotels and restaurants, retail businesses, transports, the financial sector, and cultural service providers.
Employment also benefits from tourism, with some 20,000 persons employed in the tourism sector, representing 7% of the persons active in the Canton.

The three main missions of Geneva Tourism & Conventions Office:

1. To promote Geneva as both a leisure and a business destination.
2. To improve the quality of the welcome extended to guests and make their stay enjoyable, and to provide tourist information and assistance.
3. To organize events for the tourist trade such as… the Fêtes de Genève!
