Waste sorting
Sorting the trash is everyone’s job.

Keeping the fairgrounds neat is in everyone’s interest.
This year, stall keepers will sort their trash directly at their stallS. Two million visitors eating and drinking on the site during 11 days will generate more than 200 metric tons of trash that will have to be sorted. If everyone takes care of his or her own trash, the job will be much easier.
This year, in addition to the 250 trashcans and skips set up all along the 5 km of the site, each stall will have its own mini sorting centre, a stand holding three transparent bags for aluminium, PET, and trash. Gilbert Sculier has long been in charge of logistics during the festival. This year he hopes to do better than the minimum required by the authorities, which is 40% of trash pre-sorted before it is taken away.
Consignes
As in 2009, consumers who take a bottle away will have to pay a 1 franc deposit which will be returned when they give back the bottle. And finally, the number of signs explaining how to sort one’s trash has been increased.
A brief reminder for all: blue is for glass, grey for aluminium, orange for PET and green for biodegradable trash, including recyclable crockery and cutlery, the only kind used on the site.
A small gesture to preserve our lakeside and the environment.
