Geneva Tourism is a private foundation recognized by the state as serving the public interest. Its activities are mainly oriented towards promoting and marketing the Geneva destination and its region, welcoming and informing tourists as well as visitors in Geneva, and managing Geneva's entertainment programs.

For 95 years now, the Tourism Office has organised the Geneva Festival. Its aim has been to put into place an event that brings together the largest possible number of tourists and Genevans. Initially called the Flower Festival, then the Geneva Festival, this event evolves from year to year, offering entertainment, amusements and shows for the whole public.

It should be recalled that the Geneva Festival must observe the framework conditions imposed by the City of Geneva, which makes its public space available.

The Geneva Festival is the largest annual event in Switzerland, offering more than 100 restaurants and bars, around 200 concerts, dancing lessons and DJ sets, and more than 60 amusement rides and games and unique entertainment. Contrary to popular belief, the Geneva Festival, including the Grand Fireworks display, aims to be self-financing, generating revenue from the renting of pitches for stands and attractions in order to balance out the expenses. It is in no way financed by the taxes of Genevans.
